Cherry Shrimp (Sakura Grade)

Aquarium enthusiasts favor Neocaridina davidi as a freshwater shrimp because of its bright colors and active behavior. The "Sakura" cherry shrimp stands out as a popular special variant within the species. The "Sakura" variety represents a selective color morph of Cherry Shrimp that has been bred specifically to achieve deeper and more vivid red hues.

Important attributes:
Coloration: The Sakura Cherry Shrimp stands out with its intense red coloration which surpasses the standard Cherry Shrimp's brightness. The coloring of these shrimp has a spectrum that ranges from light red to almost crimson.
The perfect Sakura shrimp displays a uniform red color which lacks translucent patches throughout its body yet some individual shrimp show a combination of red and transparent areas.
The mild translucency of the red color allows observers to see internal organs which appear both delicate and unique.

Size: The female shrimp surpass the males in size with a maximum length between 1.5 and 2 inches (3.8 to 5 cm). Their small size does not prevent these shrimp from standing out in planted aquariums where their vivid colors create a striking visual appeal.

Temperament: The gregarious and docile nature of sakura cherry shrimp makes them ideal for community tanks when paired with other non-aggressive species. These creatures dedicate most of their time to searching for food as they use algae and debris to perform cleaning tasks on the ground, rocks, and plants.
These shrimp serve planted tanks well because they clean the environment and turn organic waste and leftover food into beneficial nutrients.

Needs for Habitat: Sakura cherry shrimp thrive in planted tanks with numerous hiding places such as driftwood and rocks. These shrimp thrive at temperatures between 65 and 80°F (18 to 27°C) and require pH levels from 6.5 to 7.5 which fall between slightly acidic and neutral conditions. They also want consistent water conditions. Gentle to moderately hard water conditions are their preferred environment.
Cherry shrimp require frequent water changes and efficient filtration due to their vulnerability to elevated ammonia, nitrite, and chlorine levels.

Reproduction: Breeding cherry shrimp in captivity is an uncomplicated process. The female cherry shrimp carries fertilized eggs beneath her tail area where they develop after mating. The eggs will hatch into small baby shrimp known as "shrimplets" within 30 days based on the water temperature.
The shrimp emerge fully developed from their eggs and immediately begin their search for food. They require minimal care after establishing appropriate water conditions for their growth.
Level of Care: Both beginner and experienced hobbyists will find Cherry Shrimp "Sakura" to be an excellent choice because they require minimal maintenance. These shrimp can survive in tanks of any size but gain exceptional popularity in nano tanks due to the striking contrast their vibrant appearance creates against lush aquascapes.
Aesthetic Appeal: Aquascaped aquariums display the Sakura Cherry Shrimp's red color vibrantly when set against dark substrates or green plant backgrounds. The striking quality of their vivid and glistening bodies enhances the dynamic and vibrant atmosphere of aquariums.

Overall, adding Sakura Cherry Shrimp to freshwater tanks proves beneficial because they enhance visual appeal while helping control algae growth. The Sakura Cherry Shrimp stands as one of the most popular aquarium shrimp species because of its strong resilience and simple breeding process.
