What Is The Aquascape Box?

The Aquascape Box is a monthly subscription curated by The Nature Galleries plant specialists. At signup you complete a short Tank Profile Quiz — and from then on, every box is built specifically for your setup. Not a random assortment. A deliberate curation.

Plant & Moss Variety (Rotates Monthly)

Plants are sourced from The Nature Galleries own nursery and verified partner growers. Here is a representative sample of what subscribers receive across a 12-month cycle:

FOREGROUND & CARPETING:

• Hemianthus callitrichoides "Cuba" (HC Cuba) — ultra-fine carpet grass, the gold standard for nano tanks

• Eleocharis acicularis "Mini" — delicate hairgrass carpet, great for gentle ripple effects

• Glossostigma elatinoides — classic low-growing carpet for CO₂-injected tanks

• Marsilea hirsuta — four-leaf clover carpet, beginner-friendly and visually striking

MIDGROUND ACCENT PLANTS:

• Cryptocoryne wendtii "Green" — hardy, shade-tolerant rosette; nearly indestructible

• Staurogyne repens — compact bushy midground, pairs beautifully with driftwood

• Bucephalandra sp. "Kedagang" — iridescent collector piece with subtle blue sheen

• Anubias barteri var. nana "Petite" — bulletproof low-light classic; attaches to any hardscape

BACKGROUND & STATEMENT PLANTS:

• Rotala rotundifolia — feathery red-orange stems that add instant colour contrast

• Vallisneria spiralis — tall flowing grass, perfect for creating depth and movement

• Ludwigia palustris — deep red and green two-tone stems for vivid backgrounds

• Myriophyllum mattogrossense — fine-leaved bushy filler that softens any layout

MOSSES & EPIPHYTES:

• Taxiphyllum barbieri (Java Moss) — the most versatile moss; ties to anything

• Vesicularia montagnei (Christmas Moss) — lacy and elegant on driftwood or rocks

• Fissidens fontanus (Phoenix Moss) — premium collector moss with complex frond structure

• Bolbitis heudelotii (African Water Fern) — dramatic fern, striking on dark rocks

RARE & COLLECTOR'S PICKS (featured in select months)

• Eriocaulon sp. "Vietnam" — sculptural rosette for advanced aquascapers

• Hottonia palustris — whorled stems of extraordinary delicacy; rarely seen in subscriptions

• Pogostemon helferi "Downoi" — star-shaped rosette, one of the most-requested collector plants

BOTANICALS

• Magnolia seed pods - The Slow Burner. These pods decompose at a glacial pace, staying put for months without disintegrating.

• Indian Almond leaves - They're usually the first botanical people pickup. Why because, they actually work duh!

• Banana leaves - The Shelter Architect. These are the only botanical that instantly creates hiding space just by being there. Whilst also super charging tannins into the water making your water full of vitality.

• Banksia pods - The Monument Builder. These pods are architectural. They stand upright, create vertical interest, and look intentional in a scape rather than thrown in.

LIVE FOOD CULTURES:

 • Black Worms - A super nutritional snack for all fish even shrimp will have a go and nibble on them they're so delicious.

• Daphnia - The super vacuum filter feeders who will clear up green water algae in a heartbeat! Watch out as they multiply very quickly so you must harvest regularly to avoid a culture crash.

• Scuds (Amphipods) - These guys are one of the best Janitors around feeding off debris, uneaten food and algae be careful though if in plague numbers they'll eat your Java moss, how ever I have never had them eat any other plant or moss.

• Springtail - a zippy, jumpy hydrophobic extrodinaire, after watching springtails in action you'll understand how they got their name.

How It Works:

1. Take the Tank Profile Quiz at checkout — takes 2 minutes. Tell us your tank size, lighting, CO₂ setup, experience level, and aesthetic style.

2. We curate your box — Tropica specialists build your monthly selection based on compatibility, difficulty, and your stated preferences.

3. Ships express — your box is packed in climate-controlled insulated packaging. Plants arrive alive and ready to plant, typically within 2–3 business days of dispatch.

4. Plant, photograph, share — post your monthly additions in the subscriber Discord and vote on community "tank of the month".

Shipping:

Express shipping is the only available option and is fully included in your $97/month subscription. We use express exclusively every Monday and Tuesday to guarantee plant health with a 2-4 day transit — aquatic plants in transit for 5+ days have significantly reduced survival rates. Your plants deserve better.

Orders placed before the 20th of each month are dispatched in that month's cycle. Orders after the 20th are dispatched the following month.

Our Guarantee:

Arrived dead or damaged? We replace it. No questions, no forms, no hassle. Photograph your plants within 24 hours of delivery and contact us via email or Discord. We dispatch a replacement in your next box — or as a standalone shipment if the damage warrants it.

Who Is This For?
