The Nature Gallery Terrarium Discovery Box

A Small Box of Living Possibilities — Delivered Monthly

$54.95 AUD per month

You do not need an enormous glasshouse, a horticulture degree or the ability to disappear into a rainforest for three weeks to bring more nature into your home.

You just need a box.

The Terrarium Discovery Box is our smaller, beginner-friendly monthly subscription designed for terrarium builders, bioactive keepers and curious plant collectors who want fresh materials without committing to the larger premium box.

Each month, we curate a compact selection of live plants, mosses, clean-up crew cultures, natural materials and useful terrarium extras. The contents rotate with the seasons and are selected to help you build, refresh or gradually expand your miniature ecosystem.

No two boxes are exactly the same—because nature has never been particularly interested in mass production.

What You Can Expect Inside

Every Terrarium Discovery Box contains a rotating selection of approximately five to seven curated items.

Your monthly box may include:

Live Terrarium Plants

Receive one or two rooted plants or healthy cuttings selected for humid terrariums, closed jars and bioactive enclosures.

Possible varieties include:

  • Fittonia

  • Peperomia

  • Selaginella

  • Small ferns

  • Pothos cuttings

  • Seasonal terrarium plants

  • Occasional collector varieties

Plant selection changes depending on availability, season and the type of setup listed in your subscription preferences.

Moss for Propagation

A fresh portion of terrarium-suitable moss may be included for attaching to hardscape, establishing ground cover or adding that ancient-forest-floor look without waiting several decades.

Selections may include:

  • Java moss

  • Flame moss

  • Christmas moss

  • Terrestrial moss varieties

  • Mixed propagation fragments

A Clean-Up Crew Culture

Selected boxes may include a starter culture of springtails or another suitable microfauna culture.

Springtails help consume mould, fungal growth and decomposing organic material, making them one of the smallest—and most useful—employees in a bioactive setup.

Clean-up crew cultures rotate and may not appear in every monthly box.

Natural Substrate Materials

Each box may contain a useful portion of one or more natural building materials, such as:

  • Sphagnum moss

  • Coco fibre

  • Leaf litter

  • Bark chips

  • Terrarium substrate blend

  • Drainage or decorative materials

These are ideal for refreshing an established enclosure, experimenting with a small jar build or adding texture to a new project.

Hand-Picked Hardscape or Botanicals

Add structure and character with a small natural accent selected for nano and medium terrariums.

This may include:

  • Cork bark

  • Small driftwood pieces

  • Natural stone

  • Decorative seed pods

  • Dried leaves

  • Bark fragments

  • Botanical accents

Every piece will naturally vary in shape, texture and colour.

That is not a defect. That is the entire point.

A Rotating Tool or Bonus Extra

Some months will include a practical tool or surprise item, such as:

  • Long terrarium tweezers

  • A small misting bottle

  • Mini substrate scoop

  • Plant labels

  • Decorative figurine

  • Propagation accessory

  • Bonus moss or plant cutting

Tools and bonus items rotate and are not included in every shipment.

Monthly Care Guide

Every box includes guidance tailored to that month’s featured contents.

You will learn:

  • What each item is

  • How to prepare and use it

  • Recommended light and humidity

  • Planting and propagation methods

  • Common warning signs

  • How to introduce cultures safely

  • How the items can work together inside a living system

No vague pamphlet telling you to “keep moist but not too moist” and then abandoning you emotionally.

Built Around Your Terrarium

Tell us about your setup when subscribing, including:

  • Terrarium or enclosure size

  • Open or closed design

  • Approximate humidity

  • Current plants or inhabitants

  • Experience level

  • Whether you keep reptiles, amphibians or invertebrates

We will use this information to guide the selection of suitable items whenever possible.

A beginner building a first closed jar may receive hardy plants, moss and simple materials.

A bioactive keeper may receive a box weighted toward leaf litter, clean-up crew support and enclosure refresh materials.

A plant collector may receive more propagation material and less substrate.

The surprise remains. The guesswork does not.

Why the Contents Change

A subscription box should not become a monthly delivery of the same three things in increasingly creative packaging.

Terrariums develop over time. Plants grow. Moss spreads. Substrates break down. Clean-up crew populations expand, decline or require support.

The Terrarium Discovery Box changes so each delivery offers a new way to build, improve or experiment.

Some months may focus on:

  • Moss propagation

  • Closed-jar planting

  • Clean-up crew support

  • Natural hardscape

  • Humidity-loving plants

  • Substrate health

  • Seasonal botanicals

  • Bioactive enclosure enrichment

The result is a subscription that grows alongside your ecosystem rather than filling a cupboard with duplicates.

Who Is It For?

The Terrarium Discovery Box is ideal for:

  • Beginners creating their first terrarium

  • Closed-jar terrarium builders

  • Bioactive reptile and amphibian keepers

  • Isopod and invertebrate enthusiasts

  • Plant collectors looking for new cuttings

  • Aquascapers exploring emersed plant growth

  • Parents creating nature projects with children

  • Anyone who needs a healthier reason to stare into a glass container for twenty minutes

It is also a thoughtful gift for someone who loves plants, animals, miniature landscapes or projects that develop over time.

Important Product Image Note

Product photographs are examples of the style, quality and approximate amount of material you may receive.

The glass terrarium shown in lifestyle photographs is not included unless specifically stated.

Plants, mosses, hardscape, cultures, tools and decorative materials rotate monthly. Natural products will vary in size, shape, colour and texture.

Your box will not look identical to the photograph.

It will look like yours.

Start Small. Let It Grow.

The Terrarium Discovery Box is not designed to build an enormous display enclosure in a single delivery.

It is designed to give you a steady stream of useful, living and natural materials that encourage experimentation without overwhelming your shelf, your terrarium or your bank account.

Open the box.

Plant something.

Mist responsibly.

Then spend an entirely reasonable amount of time watching moss do almost nothing—until, one morning, it has quietly taken over half the enclosure.
